Outdoor educational adventures for kids on the Big Island of Hawaii
Learning is an adventure!
Hawaii Adventure Academy offers half-day and full-day educational excursions designed specifically for kids, ages 11-18. Certified and experienced teachers lead each trip and connect students with the Big Island’s unique landscapes, history, and culture, making education exciting, memorable, and meaningful. Our trips are fun and a great place to make friends, learn about interesting things, and do cool stuff!
Learning doesn’t have to mean desks and textbooks. When you sign up your child or teen for a Hawaii Adventure Academy adventure, they join a small group of kids their age and explore the wild, weird, and beautiful places that make the Big Island one of a kind. Kids get their hands dirty, feet muddy, hair salty, and their brain engaged in ways they won’t expect. It’s learning—but the kind they want to do!
Parents. Let’s be honest — sometimes you need a break.
Not because you don’t love your kids (of course you do), but because parenting is a lot. A quiet moment, time reading a book on the beach, an introspective walk, an uninterrupted meal, a moment to breathe — it can make all the difference.
That’s part of the magic of Hawaii Adventure Academy. While you take a breather, your kids or teens get to have their own kind of awesome day — outside, exploring, learning about interesting things, and having fun. It’s not babysitting, and it’s not a tour company. It’s a meaningful, memorable experience that is made just for them.
You get a break. They get an adventure. Win-win.

KIDS & TEENS! This is for you
Sometimes it’s nice to go on adventures with other kids your age, right? Join us and you’ll spend the day on a fun, exploratory excursion where you’ll get to see and experience cool stuff on the Big Island of Hawaii. The teachers who lead these trips are pretty cool too! They’re great at making sure you’re having fun and feeling safe.
Have you ever read “The Magic School Bus?” Our adventures are like that (but cooler, we promise)! We load up in a van, drive to an awesome spot, and do a variety of different things (depending on the adventure). Everything we do is designed with kids and teens like you in mind! We learn interesting things, play fun games in our downtime, and make friends, too!
Sounds good? Join us! We’d love to have you adventure with us!
Our Priorities

Trust and Safety
Developing trust and maintaining safety are at the heart of everything we do. Our state-certified teachers are background-checked, CPR and first aid certified, and experienced at managing kids in the outdoors. We carefully assess each location and keep small group sizes so every student gets the attention and supervision they need to explore confidently. We take every precaution to ensure a fun, injury-free, and secure adventure.

Fun!
At Hawaii Adventure Academy, we believe that learning should be fun! When kids are engaged, moving, and discovering things for themselves, they retain information more deeply and develop a genuine excitement for knowledge. Fun, hands-on learning makes education feel like an adventure rather than a task, transforming facts into experiences and lessons into lasting memories.

Education
Our excursions aren’t tours—they’re hands-on learning adventures. Instead of just seeing the sights, kids actively explore, ask questions, and discover the ‘why’ behind Hawaii’s incredible landscapes, history, and culture. Through interactive experiences, they don’t just learn facts—they connect with the islands in a meaningful way, making discoveries that stick with them long after the adventure ends.

Low Student-to-Teacher Ratio
We intentionally keep our student-to-teacher ratio low to allow kids to get to know each other, have more personalized attention, and create a safer, more engaging experience for them. Whether we're hiking through lava fields or exploring tide pools, each student has the chance to direct their learning and dive into discoveries.
